The Minister of Aviation Aerospace Development faced criticism for appointing KWAM 1 as an ambassador despite his involvement in a security breach. Former Chief Pilot Capt Mohammed Badamosi questioned the decision, calling it senseless.

Retired Group Capt John Ojukwu also expressed concern, labeling the move embarrassing and dangerous. The appointment was seen as undermining Nigeria's obligations to the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

However, President of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots Engineers, Galadima Abednego, commended the government's intervention, stating that it could strengthen airport security protocols. The controversy also reignited the debate on the lifetime flight ban imposed on Emmanson Roland Iyayi of Topbrass Aviation Limited, with some arguing against a blanket ban for a single incident.

Group Managing Director of Finchglow Group, Bankole Bernard, criticized the decision as draconian.
