Malami Accuses EFCC of Illegal Property Marking in Abuja

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of illegal activities after the agency marked his properties in Abuja. Malami's statement, released on Monday morning, claims that EFCC operatives unlawfully invaded his office with armed security personnel and took two individuals into custody during the raid.

He insists that the EFCC's actions were not supported by a valid court order, referencing a federal high court ruling from January 6, 2026, which granted an interim forfeiture of 57 properties allegedly linked to him and his two sons, Abdulaziz Malami and Abiru Rahman Malami. The court had directed the EFCC to publish the interim forfeiture order in national daily newspapers, allowing individuals or organizations with interest in the assets to appear in court within 14 days to show cause against a final forfeiture order.

Malami recently filed an application regarding properties linked to him as he faces two separate criminal charges filed by the EFCC and has been granted bail in an alleged terrorism case by the Department of State Services (DSS).
