Malawi Tops WAFCON Group C After 3-1 Win Over Egypt

On Saturday, Malawi's National Women's Football Team achieved a significant victory over Egypt, winning 3-1 in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Rabat. Star striker Temwa Chawinga played a crucial role, creating one goal and scoring another.

Malawi took a 2-0 lead by halftime, with Rose Kadzere scoring after 35 minutes and Faith Chinzimu doubling the lead in added time. The match turned challenging for Malawi when Rose Alufandika received a straight red card for a foul on Egypt's Habiba Essam in the 52nd minute.

Despite being reduced to 10 players, Malawi extended their lead to 3-0 when Chawinga headed the ball into the net after winning a race for possession with goalkeeper Maha Shehata in the 69th minute. Egypt managed to score their first goal of the tournament through Eman Kassem in the 71st minute, following a 6-0 loss to Zambia earlier.

This victory positioned Malawi at the top of Group C, pending the outcome of Nigeria's match against Zambia.
