Cameroon Claims First WAFCON Title with 3-0 Win

Cameroon secured their first Women's Africa Cup of Nations title with a 3-0 victory over Malawi in the final held in Morocco. The Indomitable Lionesses, who had previously lost in the finals of 2004, 2014, and 2016, showcased a dominant performance.

The match began with Malawi's forward Temwa Chawinga posing an early threat, forcing a save from Cameroonian goalkeeper Michaely Bihina. However, Cameroon took control when Marie Ngah Manga scored the opening goal by converting a rebound from Grace Mendoua’s header, which had hit the woodwork.

Naomi Eto then doubled the lead with an acrobatic finish after a poorly defended corner. Just before halftime, Ngah Manga scored her second goal, assisted by Eto.

Despite Malawi's attempts to rally in the second half, including a shot from Chawinga that hit the woodwork, the Cameroonian defense remained strong. This victory marked a historic achievement for Cameroon after defeating Nigeria and Morocco in earlier rounds.
