Nigerian Male Basketball Team Accuses Government of Corruption Over FIBA Ban

The Nigerian male basketball team, D'Tigers, condemned the Nigerian government for corruption and greed following the withdrawal of the Nigerian female basketball team, D'Tigress, from international competitions due to a FIBA ban. President Muhammadu Buhari's administration agreed to withdraw Nigerian teams from international basketball competitions for two years as part of efforts to revamp sports amidst power struggles within the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).

The ban came after D'Tigress qualified for the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup but was forced to withdraw. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mai Sunndai Dare, supported the decision.

The male team expressed disappointment and hope for a corruption-free future in Nigerian basketball.
