MAN Advocates Tax Reforms for Cross River Industries

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), represented by President Franci Meshioy, has called for tax reforms to enhance industrial activities in Cross River State. During a visit to Calabar, Meshioy expressed concerns over the challenges posed by multiple taxation, which subjects companies to approximately 40 different tax charges, increasing operational costs and creating business uncertainty.

He emphasized the need for streamlined taxation to provide clarity for businesses. Additionally, poor road infrastructure was identified as a significant challenge affecting the movement of goods and raw materials.

Meshioy commended companies for their corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at supporting local communities through skill acquisition programs. The visit included discussions with Segun Ajayi Kadir, the Director General of MAN, to deepen collaboration with the state government to improve the business environment and promote the growth of the manufacturing sector across Nigeria.
