Man Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Defile Late Friend's Daughter in Lokoja

Ernest Obetul, a man in his early 50s, was arrested in Lokoja for allegedly trying to defile the 14-year-old daughter of his late close friend, Okpanachi. The arrest came after a security operation was conducted following reports of his attempt to sexually exploit the young girl.

The case unfolded when the girl's family raised an alarm, leading to a sting operation that resulted in Ernest's apprehension at a hotel where he had allegedly arranged to meet the minor. It was revealed that Ernest had obtained the girl's contact details legitimately while Okpanachi was alive and gradually steered their conversations towards sexual topics.

The suspect reportedly offered money and arranged to meet the girl at a hotel in Lokoja. The family became aware of the inappropriate advances and swiftly intervened, leading to Ernest's arrest.

Condoms were allegedly found in his possession during the arrest. Offor Daniel Okpanachi, a family member, expressed shock at the incident and warned about the dangers posed by individuals with malicious intent, even among trusted friends.
