Man Arrested for Rape and Murder in Ondo State

The Ondo State Police Command arrested a 21-year-old man named Alabi Anthony for the alleged rape and murder of Olaseni Veronica in the Akoko North East Local Government Area. The incident reportedly occurred last week, where the suspect allegedly strangled the victim to death following a sexual assault.

According to the police's public relations officer, Abayomi Jimoh, credible intelligence led to Anthony's arrest, which was facilitated by tracking the deceased's missing phone. Upon interrogation, Anthony confessed to having carnal knowledge of the victim and subsequently strangling her to death.

The police condemned this heinous act and assured the public that justice would be diligently pursued. The case has been transferred to the command headquarters in Akure for further investigation and prosecution.

The police also urged the public to report any suspicious incidents promptly to aid effective investigations into sudden unnatural deaths.
