Man Arrested in Poland for Murder of Putin Critic

A man was arrested in Poland in connection with the murder of Semyon Skrepetski, a Russian artist and critic of President Vladimir Putin. The arrest was made by Polish police on Thursday following the fatal shooting that took place on Monday in Biała Podlaska, eastern Poland.

The suspect, who holds a Georgian passport, allegedly approached Skrepetski and fired three shots at close range. Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, indicated that the murder is likely politically motivated.

Skrepetski, whose real name is Robert Kuzovkov, had previously moved to Poland in 2021 to escape political persecution in Russia and was known for his provocative caricatures targeting prominent Russian political figures, including Putin and Joseph Stalin. The Polish government has offered protection to Skrepetski in the past.

The incident raises concerns about the safety of Russian opposition figures abroad, as attacks on such individuals have been reported in various countries.
