Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Aiding Bandit in Niger

Muhammad Sani, a male from Nabi Village in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State, was sentenced to 20 years in prison without the option of a fine by a court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on January 9, 2023. He was convicted on four counts related to terrorism offenses under the Terrorism Prevention Prohibition Act of 2022.

The charges included conspiracy to conceal information about Danranmi Larg, a notorious bandit, and failing to disclose information to law enforcement that could assist in apprehending him. Sani was also found guilty of receiving 580,000 Naira to purchase ammunition for Larg, which he knew would be used to commit terrorist acts.

The sentence took effect from his arrest date on January 11, 2023, and he is to serve his term at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
