Man City Secures Enzo Fernandez for £125m Transfer Fee

Manchester City has reached an agreement to pay a joint-British transfer record fee of £125 million for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Fernandez, who is 25 years old, joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2023 for a then-British record fee of £107 million.

This latest transfer fee matches the £125 million that Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak on transfer deadline day last summer. The clubs negotiated over the past 24 hours before finalizing the agreement.

Fernandez will now undergo a medical examination ahead of signing a long-term contract with Manchester City. Personal terms are expected to be straightforward.

The Argentina international previously worked with City manager Enzo Maresca during Maresca's tenure at Chelsea, and he is eager to collaborate with Fernandez again, especially after losing several midfielders this summer. Fernandez was not part of Chelsea's recent matches, including their 4-3 Premier League win over Brighton and a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory against Luton, as he reportedly requested to be excluded from the squad.
