Man Remanded for Alleged Rape of Apprentice in Ondo

Adebayo has been remanded for allegedly raping his wife's 16-year-old apprentice in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State, on May 1, 2026. The victim, who was undergoing training in fashion design, was reportedly instructed by her boss to prepare a meal when Adebayo approached her with flattering remarks.

He allegedly forced her into a room, where he sexually assaulted her despite her attempts to resist. The victim's father, who had dropped her off at her boss's house, was informed of the incident and subsequently lodged a complaint at the Oda Police Station, leading to Adebayo's arrest.

The case was transferred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit of the Ondo State Police Command. Adebayo was arraigned in Akure Magistrate Court on charges of rape, with prosecutor Augustin Omheneihen urging the court to remand him at Olokuta Correctional Centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case was adjourned to May 8, 2026, to allow the defense to file a counter affidavit.
