Manchester United Reports Profit Surge After Job Cuts

Manchester United's financial results indicate a substantial operational profit increase to £32.6 million for the first six months of the fiscal year, compared to a £3.9 million loss during the same period last year. The latest figures, announced on Wednesday, reflect the positive financial impact of a restructuring program overseen by Jim Ratcliffe, head of the club's football operations, which resulted in approximately 450 job cuts.

The operational profit for the recent quarter was reported at £19.6 million, up from £3.1 million the previous year. However, total revenue for the second quarter decreased to £190.3 million from £198.7 million in the previous year, with commercial revenue dropping to £78.5 million and matchday revenue down to £49.5 million.

This decline is attributed to the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League and Europa League last season. Manchester United aims for a total revenue of between £640 million and £660 million for the full fiscal year, as they continue to pursue optimal performance on the pitch.
