Manchester City Signs Goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli

Manchester City announced the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from French club Olympique de Marseille on a two-year contract on Wednesday. The 34-year-old goalkeeper joins Manchester City as a replacement for an unnamed player who transferred to Leeds United.

Rulli previously spent the 2016-17 season at Manchester City but did not make a senior appearance. He is expected to provide experienced cover, with Gianluigi Donnarumma remaining the first-choice goalkeeper.

Rulli expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “This is an amazing opportunity for me and one I had to grasp,” and emphasized the club's impressive reputation. He has earned eight caps for Argentina and was part of the squads that won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 Copa America.

Rulli has played for several European clubs, including Real Sociedad, Montpellier, Villarreal, and Ajax Amsterdam, and was instrumental in Villarreal's Europa League final victory over Manchester United in 2021.
