Umahi Mourns Killing of Ex-Deputy Gov's Father

David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, expressed deep sorrow over the murder of the late monarch, HRH Ez Franci Igw, who was the father of former deputy governor Eric Kelechi Igw. The incident occurred after the monarch was reportedly kidnapped on March 1, 2026, in Ikwo Local Government Area and later killed by his abductors.

Umahi condemned the killing, describing it as a shocking reflection of the level of cruelty in society. He emphasized the late monarch's wisdom and contributions to the stability of the state's leadership.

Governor Franci Nwifuru also condemned the incident and commended the police for their swift response, which led to the arrest of two initial suspects, followed by the apprehension of seven additional suspects, bringing the total to nine in custody. The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the details of the kidnapping and murder, assuring that those responsible would face the full weight of the law.
