Clash in Kano Communities Leaves Many Feared Dead

A violent clash in Kano communities has resulted in many residents feared dead, stemming from a land dispute between Fulani traditional leaders and indigenous Hausa families. Tensions escalated as the Fulani allegedly laid claim to land belonging to the Hausa.

The situation worsened after armed men, believed to be security operatives, raided a village, opening fire and causing panic among residents who mistook them for bandits. In response, the villagers mobilized with local weapons, leading to confrontations where residents reportedly overpowered the attackers, resulting in casualties.

Following the incident, the chairman of Wudil Local Government Area, Abba Muhammad Tukur, confirmed the tragic events. Spokesperson Abba Darki assured residents that investigations would be conducted without fear or favor.

However, the community remains tense as the police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, has been unsuccessful in addressing the situation.
