Three Killed in Kebbi Communal Clash, Governor Responds

A violent clash in Alwasa, Argungu Local Government Area, Kebbi State, resulted in the deaths of at least three people and the displacement of many others. The conflict began due to a minor disagreement involving reckless motorcycle riding by youths, which quickly escalated into deadly violence.

Eyewitnesses reported that Fulani youths allegedly stabbed a Hausa youth, triggering outrage and a series of reprisals. Sani Gulma, the chairman of Argungu Local Government, spoke during a visit to assess the situation alongside Governor Nasir Idris.

The violence intensified, leading to the deaths of two individuals who were not directly involved in the conflict. Governor Idris condemned the killings and issued a stern warning against further violence, vowing that justice would be served and that security agencies would track down those responsible.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the long-standing peaceful coexistence between the Hausa and Fulani communities, which has lasted over 100 years. To alleviate the impact of the tragedy, the governor announced a donation of N2 million to the families of the victims.
