Gunmen Attack Plateau Community, Many Feared Dead

On the evening of the attack, around 7:30 PM, gunmen invaded a community in Plateau, leading to widespread panic as they fired indiscriminately into the crowd. Eyewitnesses reported that the exact number of casualties was not immediately ascertainable.

Residents attempted to identify the victims while the attackers fled the scene. In response to the violence, youth from the community blocked roads, targeting several motorcycle riders and passengers.

To restore law and order and prevent further escalation of violence, military personnel from Operation Enduring Peace were deployed to the area. Captain Polycap Oteh, a spokesperson for the operation, provided details about the incident but did not respond to inquiries regarding the cause of the attack.

The incident has caused significant tension within the Jos metropolitan area.
