Gunmen Kill Two in Plateau Community Attack

On Monday evening, gunmen attacked Garga Community in Garga District, Kanam Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of at least two residents and injuring one. The traditional ruler of the community, Alh Usman Muham Danladi, reported that the assailants invaded the area, shooting sporadically as residents fled in fear.

Three youths were shot during the incident, with one remaining hospitalized due to injuries. Members of a local vigilant group pursued the attackers, who fled into the bush.

This incident has heightened concerns regarding security in the Kanam area, which has faced a series of violent attacks in recent years. Reports indicate that over 100 lives have been lost, and many families have been displaced due to repeated assaults by armed groups.

Local residents have called for security agencies to intensify patrols and establish a permanent security post to deter further attacks.
