Marafa Leads ADC Defection in Zamfara Ahead of 2027

On a significant political shift, former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa spearheaded a mass defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State, marking a pivotal moment ahead of the 2027 general elections. This move was solidified during a high-level caucus meeting held on Wednesday in Kaduna, where Marafa's support group received unanimous endorsement for the ADC.

A statement issued by the group's secretariat, led by Malam Aminu Jelani, directed members nationwide to commence immediate registration for the party and intensify grassroots mobilization across local government areas and senatorial districts. The caucus emphasized the importance of engaging with the ADC to align with the political realities of the state.

The group also acknowledged the role of former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Dikko Abubakar in facilitating dialogue. Marafa's faction pledged to work sincerely with ADC leadership and called for unity among members as they enter a new phase of political engagement, anticipating an influx of new members to reshape the political landscape in Zamfara State.
