Kabir Marafa Switches to NDC After Brief ADC Tenure

Kabir Marafa, a former Senator representing Zamfara Central from 2011 to 2019, has made a political shift by leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) just three weeks after his initial move to the ADC on April 8, 2026. This decision follows his exit from the Progress Congress in 2025.

Marafa cited ongoing internal legal disputes within the ADC and uncertainties surrounding a court case as significant factors that complicated his ability to support the party ahead of the upcoming electoral deadlines. He argued that joining a more stable and viable platform was necessary to ensure his participation in future elections.

The NDC leadership, including former Bayelsa Governor Seriake Dickson, welcomed Marafa, describing him as a strong political asset who would help strengthen the party's presence, particularly in the North West region of Nigeria.
