Marine Police Thwart Kidnapping Plot in Akwa Ibom

On Tuesday at approximately 6:05 am, Marine Police operatives in Oron Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, successfully foiled a suspected kidnapping operation linked to sea pirates. Acting on credible intelligence, they conducted a joint operation with Marine Hunters along the Calabar–Oron Channel, targeting a suspected criminal camp.

DSP Timfon John, the State Police Public Relations Officer, reported that the suspects fled upon the operatives' arrival, abandoning a Jojeef English pump-action rifle, two cartridges, a white rope, two speedboats, and four outboard engines (three 200-horsepower and one 15-horsepower). The recovered items have been secured and documented for further investigation.

This operation is part of the command’s ongoing efforts to prevent criminal activities and protect lives and property in riverine and coastal communities. John assured residents and waterways users that the waterways remain calm and peaceful following the operation.
