Customs Officer Dies in Road Accident on Ikom-Calabar Highway

Etteng Ise, a 54-year-old customs officer stationed at the Mfum Border in Etung Local Government Area, died in a road accident on the Ikom-Calabar Highway in Cross River State on Monday at approximately 2:56 p.m. The accident occurred near Alesi Village in Ikom Local Government Area when Ise lost control of his vehicle while attempting to dodge a pothole, causing the car to veer off the road, enter the bush, and crash into a tree.

Emergency responders transported the injured officer to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom, where he was later pronounced dead by a doctor. His remains were deposited at the hospital's mortuary.

The Cross River Police Command expressed condolences to Ise's family, colleagues, and the Customs Service, urging drivers to exercise caution on intercity highways and pay attention to road conditions to prevent similar accidents.
