Husband Allegedly Kills Wife During Peace Meeting in Ekiti

On Wednesday, a peace meeting intended to reconcile the troubled marriage of 25-year-old Kehinde Onizeokaraga and her husband, Ibrahim Sodiq, turned deadly in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Ibrahim, a meat seller known as Alfa Eleran, allegedly attacked Kehinde with a machete after a disagreement escalated during the meeting at a family acquaintance's home.

The couple, originally from Kogi State, had been facing persistent marital problems, prompting family intervention. Kehinde had previously moved out due to unresolved disputes and was reportedly unwilling to return.

The mediation meeting, organized by Lamidi, a friend of Kehinde's father, took a violent turn, resulting in Kehinde sustaining multiple injuries and being confirmed dead. Ibrahim fled the scene, and the police have since arrested Lamidi, his wife, and another individual connected to the couple's wedding.

Kehinde's family is seeking justice and has urged authorities to locate Ibrahim, who allegedly took Kehinde's mobile phone, believed to contain crucial information for the investigation.
