Meat Seller Allegedly Kills Wife in Ekiti State Dispute

On September 10, 2023, in Ado, Ekiti State, Sodiq Ibrahim allegedly murdered his 25-year-old wife, Kehinde Onizeokaraga, using a machete following a dispute. Kehinde sustained multiple machete wounds and succumbed to her injuries.

The couple had been living apart due to unresolved marital issues, with Ibrahim reportedly attempting to reconcile, which Kehinde was reluctant to accept. The confrontation occurred during what Kehinde believed was a visit to a family friend.

Her cousin, Yussuf Lawrence, stated that she was unaware of Ibrahim's presence at the location. After the attack, Ibrahim fled and had not been located as of September 9.

Lawrence urged the police to intensify their search for Ibrahim, who allegedly took Kehinde's mobile phone, believed to contain crucial evidence. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, and Commissioner Michael Falade has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure Ibrahim is apprehended and prosecuted.
