New AI Technology Sentinel X Enhances Crop Protection

Martha Solomon, the General Manager of Prexea Technologies Limited and Project Lead of Sentinel X, announced the introduction of Sentinel X, a new agricultural technology aimed at combating Fall Armyworms, which significantly harm maize crops in northern Nigeria. Developed in partnership with Informiton from the United States, Sentinel X offers a dual approach with two products: Sentinel X Pest Control, designed to replace traditional insecticides, and Sentinel X Crop Booster, akin to fertilizer.

The technology promotes healthier crop development by activating plants' natural defenses rather than relying on pesticides. Initial trials conducted in Kaduna and Kano demonstrated the technology's effectiveness, prompting strong interest from farmers and government ministries for commercial availability.

The Sentinel X Pest Control can also target other pests, such as Absoluter, affecting tomatoes. The commercial rollout will offer both products separately or together, with a recommendation for farmers to purchase both for optimal results.
