Sentinel X™ Validated for Safer Farming in Nigeria

A two-day hybrid validation workshop was held in Kaduna state, organized by the Kaduna Agricultural Development Agency (KADA) in partnership with NISSCORP, the provider of Sentinel X™, a non-chemical crop protection technology. The workshop saw participation from officials and farmers from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Jigawa, as well as regulators, researchers, banks, insurers, cooperatives, and development partners.

Sentinel X™ utilizes the sun’s near-infrared spectrum to help crops naturally repel pests like Fall Armyworm, requiring no chemicals or new equipment. Pilot results from Kaduna indicated near-zero Fall Armyworm infestation, improved crop performance, and reduced costs for pesticides and fertilizers.

KADA General Manager Mallam Muhammed Rili emphasized the initiative's alignment with Governor Senator Uba Sani’s agenda on food security. NISSCORP officials advocated for Sentinel X™ as a safer alternative to chemical pesticides, while stakeholders expressed commitment to the project and called for independent assessments and transparent subscription models.
