Shettima Confirms Troops Deployment to Kwara Forests After Massacre

Governor Shettima confirmed the deployment of troops to Kwara forests in response to a massacre that claimed 100 lives. The federal government delegation, led by Shettima, visited Ilorin on Saturday to address the security crisis and restore peace in the affected communities.

The mass killing was described as an unacceptable violation of citizens' rights to live and practice their faith peacefully. Vice President Bola Tinubu received Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq at the Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin, emphasizing the need to ensure stability in Kaiama and neighboring areas.

The federal government's swift response included deploying soldiers and police tactical teams to the affected areas under Operation Savannah Shield. Local leaders, including the Emir of Kaiama and the local government chairman, expressed appreciation for the prompt intervention.

Governor Zulum also expressed solidarity on behalf of northeastern states, stressing the need for sustained security in the region to prevent future attacks.
