Nigeria's Defence Delegation Visits Egypt for Cooperation

H.E. Dr Bello Muhammed, the Minister of State for Defence, led a high-level Nigerian defence delegation on a two-day visit to Egypt, aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and advancing indigenous defence production.

The delegation included representatives from various military branches and agencies, such as the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). They toured the manufacturing facilities of Eagle International for Defence Systems Company in Suez, examining a range of defence systems and equipment.

Dr Matawalle emphasized that the visit was strategic, focusing on sustainable industrial partnerships rather than immediate procurement. The discussions with the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production included the potential establishment of an ammunition production line in Nigeria, with both sides expressing interest in formal agreements for collaboration.

This initiative aligns with Nigeria's goal of achieving self-reliance in defence production and reducing dependence on external sources.
