Nigeria's Defence Industry Shines at El Alamein Airshow

At the 2026 El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, Nigeria's defence manufacturing industry was commended for emerging as a continental pride. Mr. Osman Chennar, Chief Executive Officer of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria-D7G (DICON-D7G), stated that the event showcased Nigeria's growing capacity in defence manufacturing.

The airshow, which took place last week, is the second edition following its inaugural event in 2024, which featured over 250 exhibitors from 50 countries. Chennar emphasized that DICON-D7G, a partnership between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and D7G Limited, aims to produce military hardware locally to reduce import dependence and enhance national security.

He also announced plans for a military jetty in Lagos to support Nigeria's self-sufficiency in military equipment. This participation marks Nigeria's third appearance at major international defence exhibitions, following events in Doha and Ankara, showcasing the country's ambition to strengthen its role in Africa's defence ecosystem.
