Matawalle Orders Military to Intensify Operations in Zamfara

Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, directed the military to enhance ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-West of Nigeria following a surge in terrorist attacks in Zamfara State. This directive was issued during a condolence visit to victims in Bungudu Local Government Area and other affected communities.

The statement, released by his spokesperson Ahmad Dan-Wudil, reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to restoring peace and security in the region. Matawalle instructed Operation FANSAN YAMMA and other military formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna states to intensify operations using lawful measures to eliminate terrorist activities.

He called on traditional rulers and community leaders to assist security agencies by providing timely intelligence on individuals aiding terrorists. Additionally, he urged senior military commanders to enhance surveillance and patrols to identify and dismantle terrorist camps.

Matawalle commended the Armed Forces for their professionalism and recent successful operations against terrorists in various locations.
