Matawalle Unveils Tinubu's 5-Year Security Strategy

Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, announced that Nigeria is set to implement a five-year defence and security strategy aimed at overcoming insecurity. This announcement was made during a condolence and assessment visit to Kano on Monday, following the August 29 bandit attack on Chiroma village in Garun Mallam Local Government Area.

Matawalle stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to creating a safer environment for Nigerians through proactive security operations, strategic planning, and enhanced collaboration with state governments. He mentioned that a committee has been established to formulate this long-term security framework.

Following the recent attack, security forces initiated a joint operation led by Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, Commander of the 3 Brigade, Kano, which resulted in the rescue of several kidnapped victims around the Yan-Kifi Bridge and Marabar Kwari areas. Matawalle commended the troops and affirmed the Federal Government's commitment to strengthening the operational capabilities of the armed forces and security agencies.
