Matawalle's Aide Denies Assassination Claims by Shinkafi

Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a Zamfara senatorial aspirant, accused Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, of attempting to assassinate him.

Shinkafi alleged that there were several attempts on his life, including an incident during a prayer at Rabi Jumu Mosque in Gusau, where armed men allegedly tried to kill him. He claimed a second attempt involved a woman from Abuja who was found with a weapon and later confessed she was sent by Matawalle.

Shinkafi suggested that Matawalle's motives were politically driven, particularly as he seeks re-election in 2023. He also accused Matawalle of financial misconduct, alleging that he collected government funds without executing projects.

In response, Matawalle's aide, Yusuf Idri, dismissed Shinkafi's claims as baseless and aimed at tarnishing the minister's image. Efforts to reach Matawalle for comment were unsuccessful.
