Mbah Urges Enugu Youths to Seize Federal Opportunities

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State advised young people to take advantage of federal government opportunities, emphasizing that access, connection, and preparedness are more important than quotas and appointments. He made these remarks through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, during the Peter Eze Youth Connect Programme organized by the Federal Character Commission in Enugu.

The event, themed “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths through the Federal Character Commission,” attracted thousands of youths. Mbah highlighted five fully funded scholarships for Enugu State youth to study in the United States, describing it as a transformative opportunity.

He noted the importance of access in addition to quotas under the federal character principle and mentioned recent successes of South-East youths in technical programs in China. Mbah called for collaboration among the state government, federal government, private sector, and international partners, recognizing the need for youth to be central in these discussions.

He commended Eze for his efforts in creating access and acknowledged President Bola Tinubu for enabling connections to opportunities.
