Niger Police Arrest Multiple Suspects for Vehicle Theft

The Niger State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with stolen vehicles and motorcycles as part of ongoing efforts to combat urban crime. The first arrest involved Suleiman Anaba, a 32-year-old mechanic from Mashegu Local Government Area, who allegedly stole a Toyota Corolla (registration number AG 281 BNK) for repairs.

The vehicle was reported missing on March 22. Anaba confessed to stealing vehicles and selling parts in Kontagora, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

Additionally, on March 26, Buhari Usman, 25, was arrested for motorcycle theft along Raba Road in Mokwa. He admitted to stealing a motorcycle with plans to sell it.

Further investigations led to the arrest of accomplices, including Abdullahi Suleiman and Aliyu Ibrahim, with a Bajaj motorcycle recovered. On March 30, four individuals were arrested for receiving a stolen Toyota Carina E (registration number CQ 302 GGE), which was stolen on March 27.

The suspects claimed to have received the vehicle for 850,000 Naira. The police urge vehicle owners to verify the credentials of mechanics to prevent theft.
