Niger Police Arrest Two for Car Theft, Recover Vehicles

The Niger State Police Command arrested two suspects, Abdulfatai Abdulganiyu, 49, and Nura Umar, 28, in connection with car theft. The operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the recovery of a stolen Honda CR-V and a Toyota Corolla.

Abdulfatai was intercepted at a hotel in Minna, found with the Honda CR-V, which was reported stolen in Kano. During interrogation, he confessed to being part of a car theft syndicate.

Nura Umar was identified as a potential buyer of the stolen vehicles, having allegedly purchased the Toyota Corolla for 1.1 million naira, with 700,000 naira paid upfront. Additionally, the police arrested suspects involved in vandalizing electrical infrastructure, including Moham Lawal and Umar Liman, who were linked to the theft of transformer components.

The police recovered tools used in the vandalism and confirmed that the suspects are in custody, with charges pending.
