Garo Nominated as Kano State Deputy Governor

Garo has been nominated as the Deputy Governor of Kano State after the resignation of his predecessor on March 27, which initiated impeachment proceedings. His nomination is in line with Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution.

Garo, 48, has a long political history, having served in various roles, including as the Secretary of the Progress Congress and as a special adviser to the governor. He has also chaired the Kabo Local Government Area Commission and has been involved in local government chieftaincy affairs.

Garo is recognized for his strong grassroots connections and is closely associated with former Kano State Governor and immediate past APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. His nomination is seen as a strategic move to consolidate governance in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Kano State House of Assembly is expected to screen the nominee, with Garo's confirmation anticipated soon.
