Kano Assembly to Screen Garo as Deputy Governor Nominee

The Kano State House of Assembly has scheduled a screening for Garo, the nominee for Deputy Governor, on Monday. This follows the vacancy created by the resignation of former Deputy Governor Abdussalam Gwarzo on March 27, 2026.

The announcement was made by Kamaludden Shawai, spokesperson for Speaker Jibril Falgor, confirming that the Assembly received an official communication from Governor Abba Yusuf regarding the nomination. The nomination aligns with constitutional provisions outlined in Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, described Garo as an experienced politician with two decades of public service. Garo, 48, has held various positions, including State Organizing Secretary of the Progress Congress, Special Adviser to the Governor, and Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area.

His nomination is part of the administration's efforts to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery in the state.
