UNILAG Student Wins Huawei Global ICT Competition

Peter A. Fagbola, a student in the Department of Systems Engineering at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), won the Huawei Global ICT Competition held in Shenzhen, China.

He was part of Team Nigeria Cloud, which secured first prize and a cash reward of N3.5 million. Fagbola's journey began when he won the Cloud and AI Track at the national competition representing UNILAG, subsequently advancing to the Southern Africa Regional Competition, where his team also won.

The global competition attracted thousands of university students worldwide, and Team Nigeria Cloud excelled against various international teams. UNILAG praised Fagbola's achievement as a reflection of his dedication and the quality of mentorship at the institution.

Following the victory, he was honored at the Huawei Education Summit in Abuja. The university emphasized that Fagbola's success serves as an inspiration for other students to pursue excellence in competitions.

Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, congratulated Fagbola on behalf of the university community.
