UNILAG Students Shine at National AI Hackathon

Students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) achieved remarkable success at a national AI hackathon organized by Bluechip Technologies, where they finished in first and second runner-up positions. The competition attracted 595 teams comprising 1,220 participants from 30 states across Nigeria, challenging them to develop scalable artificial intelligence solutions for real-world problems.

The first-place team, led by Fakorod Henri, a 200-level student in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, alongside Adeyemi Muiz and Raheem Akapo, presented an AI-powered platform that delivers personalized streaming recommendations based on user viewing history and cultural preferences. The second runner-up team, PulseAg, designed an AI solution specifically for Nigerian users, including members Aborowa Daniel, a 400-level Computer Science student, and Nwokedi Ifechukwu, Elebiemayo Iseoluwa Victor, and Chukwuebuka, all 200-level Computer Science students.

This achievement underscores UNILAG's commitment to producing graduates capable of addressing national development challenges through technological innovation.
