Mercy Obasi's Journey from Banking to Event Planning

Mercy Obasi, the founder of Cloud 9, shifted her career from banking and aviation to event planning, seeking fulfillment and independence. In an interview, she recounted her journey, highlighting the challenges of building a reliable team and balancing family life with entrepreneurship.

She began organizing children's parties six years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic, inspired by her love for working with kids. After studying banking and finance at the University of Benin and obtaining an MBA from the University of Lagos in 2015, she left her banking job at Air France to pursue her passion.

Obasi noted the importance of attention to detail in event planning, managing everything from decor to catering. She emphasized the need for a strong team, as challenges in the business often arise from staff changes.

Despite the difficulties, she expressed pride in every job executed under Cloud 9, which aims to be a one-stop shop for event planning.
