Kily Gonzalez Named New Head Coach of Inter Miami

Cristian “Kily” Gonzalez has officially taken over as the head coach of Inter Miami, as confirmed by Major League Soccer on September 15, 2026. The 52-year-old former Argentina international signed a contract that extends until June 2028.

He replaces Guillermo Hoyos, who had been serving as interim coach after Javier Mascherano's departure in April. Gonzalez's appointment comes at a challenging time for Inter Miami, which has struggled with consistency, winning only one of their last five regular-season matches and currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference, nine points behind leaders Nashville.

Gonzalez brings coaching experience from Argentine football, having managed Rosario Central, Unión Santa Fe, and Platense since starting his coaching career in 2020. His first major task will be to stabilize the team ahead of the Campeones Cup match against Mexican club Cruz Azul, with his first training session scheduled prior to the clash.
