Prof Sajobi Advocates for Methodological Investment in Health

Prof Sajobi delivered a plenary lecture titled “One Craft, Many Tables: Methodologists as Leaders in Transdisciplinary Mental Health Research” at the 1st Women Derive Mathematical Models for Mental Health (WEALTH) Conference and the 2nd Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) Conference in Ibadan. He emphasized the need for increased investment in methodological sciences and the development of experts capable of leading multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research teams.

Sajobi stated that strengthening methodological capacity is essential for improving research quality and translating scientific evidence into health policies. He criticized the common misconception that technical skills alone qualify someone as a methodologist, asserting that true leadership in methodology requires more than just technical expertise.

Sajobi described transdisciplinary research as the future of health research, advocating for collaboration among various specialists to address complex health challenges. He lamented the frequent misunderstanding of methodologists' roles, which often leads to poor-quality research and ineffective clinical practices.
