Microsoft, Teknowledge to Train 10,000 Nigerian Youths in AI

Microsoft and Teknowledge have announced a partnership to train 10,000 Nigerian youths in artificial intelligence (AI) skills, expanding on a successful first phase that trained 3,000 participants. This initiative is part of Microsoft's AI Nation Skill Initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria's workforce and supporting inclusive AI adoption.

The second phase will focus on empowering youth, particularly women, and aims to create direct pathways to employment. Mr.

Olugbolahan Olusanya, Territory Director for Africa at Teknowledge, emphasized the importance of this moment in Nigeria's digital journey, stating that AI is no longer a future concept but a present opportunity. Olatomiwa William, Chief Growth AI Officer at Microsoft Middle East and Africa, highlighted the critical role of this initiative in enabling Nigeria to become a significant player in the global AI economy.

Aileen Allkin, President and CEO of Teknowledge, noted the necessity for Nigeria to accelerate its investment in technology and skill development to benefit from the trillion-dollar AI market projected for the next decade.
