Microsoft and Teknowledge to Train 10,000 Nigerian Youths

Microsoft and Teknowledge have announced the second phase of their initiative to train 10,000 Nigerian youths in artificial intelligence (AI) skills, including women. This announcement was made during a press conference in Lagos, where Olugbolahan Olusanya, the Territory Director for Africa at Teknowledge, emphasized that Nigeria is at a defining moment in its digital journey.

Olatomiwa William, Chief Growth Officer at Microsoft Middle East and Africa, highlighted the incredible opportunities for Nigeria to become a significant player in the global AI economy. The first phase of the project successfully trained 3,000 Nigerian youths, and the expansion aims to strengthen the workforce in preparation for the inclusive adoption of AI in Nigeria.

Aileen Allkin, President and CEO of Teknowledge, noted that the AI sector is projected to generate trillions of dollars globally in the next decade, urging the Nigerian government to invest in technology and skill development to ensure the country receives its fair share.
