Iran Reports 1,900 Civilian Deaths Amid Ongoing Attacks

Iran's Minister of Science, Hossein Simayi Sarraf, disclosed during a media briefing that approximately 1,900 civilians, including women and children, have been killed as a result of coordinated military actions by Israeli forces against the Islamic Republic. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies reported that at least 20,000 individuals have sustained varying degrees of injury amid ongoing attacks.

Sarraf described the strikes on educational infrastructure as a crime against humanity, noting that at least 30 universities have been affected. Iran's Foreign Minister, Abba Araghchi, warned of the risks posed by repeated attacks on the Bushehr nuclear power plant, emphasizing the potential for radioactive fallout.

He criticized Western powers for their hypocrisy in comparing the situation to the conflict near Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. Araghchi further argued that strikes on Iran's petrochemical sector indicate a broader campaign aimed at crippling the country's economy alongside its civilian scientific infrastructure.
