Tinubu Orders 100,000 CNG Kits to Combat Fuel Prices

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate deployment of 100,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion kits across Nigeria as part of urgent measures to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices amid escalating conflicts in the Middle East. This initiative was disclosed by Ismaeel Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), during a meeting with state house correspondents on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The President emphasized the need to monitor global developments affecting Nigeria's economy, particularly the implications of the Middle East conflict on fuel prices and transport costs. The deployment of the CNG kits is expected to occur within the next two to three weeks, enabling vehicle owners, including commercial transport operators and tricycle drivers, to convert their vehicles to run on gas instead of petrol.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce transport costs and expand alternative energy options in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions.
