Army Chief Calls for Collaboration Against Security Threats

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army, addressed the increasing complexity of security threats in Nigeria, stating that the military cannot address these challenges alone. He underscored the importance of stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, and local communities.

Shaibu made these remarks during a media workshop organized by the Army Public Relations Directorate. He expressed concern over the impact of fake news and misinformation on military operations and troop morale.

Shaibu emphasized that contemporary threats such as terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping require a coordinated, multi-dimensional response that extends beyond military operations. He noted that enhancing intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation is vital for achieving sustained peace and security across the nation.

Additionally, he highlighted the role of the media in countering misinformation and mobilizing public support for security operations, stressing that modern adversaries increasingly rely on propaganda and information manipulation.
