Army Chief Calls for Collaboration in Security Efforts

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, emphasized that the Nigerian Army cannot effectively address the country's increasingly complex security challenges alone. He underscored the importance of stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, and local communities.

During a media workshop, he noted that contemporary threats such as terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping require a coordinated, multi-dimensional response that extends beyond military operations. Shaibu expressed concern over the growing impact of fake news and misinformation on military operations and troop morale.

He stated that the Nigerian Army continues to achieve significant operational successes driven by enhanced inter-agency cooperation and intelligence sharing. However, he warned that misinformation, if left unchecked, poses a direct security threat.

Colonel Apollonia Anel, Director of Army Public Relations, described the media space as a critical domain in contemporary warfare, influencing operational outcomes significantly, especially with the proliferation of social media.
