Nigerian Army Must Adapt to Emerging Security Threats

During the first bi-annual conference held on Monday in Abuja, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, called for continuous adaptation to emerging security threats. He noted that the contemporary security environment is increasingly complex and requires proactive leadership and innovative operational capabilities.

Shaibu stressed that military operations can no longer rely solely on conventional approaches due to the evolving tactics employed by adversaries. He emphasized the need for a critical evaluation of current operational methods to identify areas requiring strategic adjustments.

The COAS highlighted the importance of collaboration within a joint multi-agency environment to improve operational outcomes. He also pointed out that no single security agency can independently address the nation's security challenges without effective synergy and information sharing.

Furthermore, he reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to build a highly professional and combat-ready force capable of responding to contemporary threats while maintaining discipline and adherence to rules of engagement.
